This is Cal West Motors 28th year in San Leandro. Jack and Mike Casey, father & son, started Cal West Motors in 1981 at the corner of 141st Ave and E.14th St. in San Leandro with a total inventory of 5 vehicles, a few thousand dollars in the bank, and an ambition to become independent businessmen. Prior to starting our business we both had experience working in the car business. Jack handled the lease returns for Varner Ward Leasing Company of San Francisco. Prior to that he sold new and pre-owned Fords at Towne Ford in Redwood City and Hartzheim Ford in Burlingame. Many years prior when he was first out of the army and still in his 20's, he had a lot of fun in Sacramento selling new Ramblers when they first came out. I learned the car business at Kohlenberg and Hartzheim Ford in Burlingame in the late 1970's, and from my father. After I finished college, we worked together at Hartzheim Ford in the late 70's & early 80's and became inspired to start our own family Automobile Dealership business. We searched the Bay Area and opened our original location in San Leandro. We worked like crazy, day & night everyday, to build our business from 5 to over 150 vehicles at as many as 3 San Leandro locations in a few short years.
A great deal of time and effort goes into the process of presenting vehicles for sale and your use. Before a vehicle is presented on the our sales lots, it must be searched for, investigated, purchased, insured, funded, transported, safety checked, serviced, reconditioned, smog tested, and detailed. We then advertise, market, agree, arrange financing & payment, transfer & title (DMV), re-insure, and guarantee. Each step in the process requires a great deal of time and expertise. It has taken us all of our years in business to become organized and efficient in our processes. We continually strive to improve our systems and procedures.
Well maintained vehicles from our Bay Area are the best in the country. Our climate is mild here compared to other regions in the country. No salt on our roads! No sizzling summer heat! No sub-freezing cold! No rusty cars from around here! No sun burned paint or interiors from this area! And very little humidity. We want to reach out to a larger audience... We have excellent vehicles at Cal West Motors!
Our most recent focus has been the internet and developing our web site as a tool to help us to grow. We have teamed with Smart Web Concepts to bring you a web site that is informative and encourages interaction and dialogue.
